The Opening Rush:

  • Game begins by placing the dodgeballs along the center line – three on one side of the center hash and three on the other side.

  • Players then take a position touching the back wall.

  • Following a signal by the official, teams may approach the center line to retrieve the balls.

  • Teams may only retrieve the three balls to the right of the center hash.

  • Once a ball is retrieved it must be taken behind the attack line (10’ line) before it can be legally thrown.

  • The time limit of 3 minutes is reached then the team with the greater number of players remaining will be declared the winner.  If the same amount of players on both sides remains then there will be a sudden death play of one minute.

5 Second Violation:

  • In order to reduce stalling, a violation will be called if a team in the lead controls the ball for 5 seconds and does not throw.

  • You must throw the ball within 5 seconds or all balls are forfeited to the other team.
